Well one hundred no. But several yes there are around Udaipur and all beautiful and relaxing although the king is undoubtedly he, the Pichola Lake where one of the symbols of the city stands: the white Lake Palace hotel.

Tip: nothing better to get to know Udaipur than to take a local hand tour 🙂 This is free (although it is always good to leave a tip).

The first day we dedicate to visit the City palace, that the truth, left us a little indifferent, the Jagdisa Hindu temple where we saw a squirrel making offerings hehe, and to walk around the lake!

We decided to have dinner at one of the many rooftop restaurants that rise around the lake, and piece of Burger the Rober was zapped!

The next day we agree again with Iuri, Pol and Mireia and we share a pleasant time on the day of Christmas. And while you were driving the tooth in the nougat we ... too (though accompanied by women washing clothes and children taking a bath next door!).

And to top it off ... we left fair! Already… in April fair plan, but instead of sevillanas and fried fish, there were traditional dances from all regions of India and spicy snacks.

The best thing was the show they did in the afternoon: people from every corner of India they came to show off their dances and songs, it was very nice and funny, especially when 3 men went up in the box (a little old man with a march, a chubby with a butcher's face of the town and a more timid one) and began to sing jokes (or this we believe) since the entire audience was laughing at each stanza! (Then we showed the video to the GH guy and apparently they were comparing their women ...)

And to return, as the tuktuk asked us for a goose paste (something like € 2 ... you have to see the value of money as it goes up when you travel!) We decided to hitchhike in Pekin Express plan. What if! After several attempts I stop very majete man. With him we made a good part of the road and once at a crossroads near our house he told us "Money!" and we “nooooo Money, we already told you we don't have!” and surprise: we see that he takes money from the wallet and offers it to us "For tuktuk" he tells us! Joliiin clearly do not accept but we were frozen by this gesture! How many people in Spain would have picked us up from the road, taken by car near where we live and offered money for the taxi? Not much sure, but we think we expect someone so generous still exists! And to top it off, a few meters from walking, he stops a tuktuk and tells us that another piece of road is coming for free! Go round night 🙂

Udaipur, apart from palaces, lakes, temples and fairs for us means one thing: Samvith and his family. In his Homestay we have spent 4 nights and lived good times…. Playing with Donna, the most beautiful dog in Rajasthan, taking chai with Samvit on the shore of the lake and chatting with her parents! We also visited the association that manages: the DAAN Foundation, where we could see the work they do with the children of the town, we will tell you more and better in a specific post!

USEFUL INFO

How to get to Udaipur by bus from Chittorgarh

We went by bus from Chittorgarh, we paid about 70 INR (remember that the girls have a 30% discount), it took about 3 hours. Once you arrive at the bus station you can catch a tuktuk for 50 INR that leaves you in the center of the city.

Where to sleep in Udaipur

We slept in the Chandra Niwas Homestay

Where to eat in Udaipur

There are many restaurants around the lake, for good views we advise you to climb to a rooftop. We ate well and cheaply at Lake View (the hamburger pictured is from there!)

What to see in Udaipur

  • City palace: We entered with student discount, the entrance cost us 55 INR instead of 110 INR. (Includes the museum, if you want to visit the Crystal Palace you have to pay 500 INR more ... we did not go). Upon entering the museum you are asked to pay 250 INR per camera or leave it in the deposit. We left her there and regretted: the palace is fine, but not by far like others. You can also take foreign photos with your mobile.
  • Jagdisa Hindu Temple: It's free, as always donations are well accepted. They ask you for money when you pick up the shoes, just ignore them hehe!
  • They advised us to go up to Monsoon Palace which is on a nearby hill to watch the sunset but we did not have time (or desire?) Boat trip on Lake Pichola: there are several piers along the lake. It costs INR 200 for half an hour. We did not do it.
