In this post we will tell you what to see and do in Sitges in one day 🙂

Noticeable. It will be the smell of the sea breeze, the sun, the white houses, the cobbled streets, the smell of fresh fish and fried fish, the relaxed atmosphere ... But when you are in a Mediterranean town it shows. And in a little town like this we spent last weekend: SITGES.

The truth is that after having backpacked this summer by Cabo de Gata and Sigüenza we sat down to spend a few days here to overcome the post-holiday depre! We have prepared this guide with all the info and things to see and do in Sitges so you can see that although it is one of the most expensive municipalities in Spain it is possible to travel and stay here for little money.

In the morning Enjoy one of the city's beaches ... you will see that you are going to love it: not in vain many people call Sitges "the little San Tropez" and also on numerous occasions it has been chosen as the best European urban beach destination! We stay in the “Riera Xica”And we were surprised by the transparency of the water: a pass!

Between a bath, some waves and a session of sun (I do not go mozzarellico tanning) it is time to eat so wing! To look for a good, beautiful and cheap place. Ok, but how much cheap?

There are restaurants in the promenade where for € 15 you can eat a plate of Paella looking at the sea, others that offer interesting menus of the day for about € 10 and then the salvation of each backpacker: sandwiches, kebabs, hotdogs, hamburgers for a few €!

Looking a little in the most central streets you can find interesting things: we drink beers with a lid at 1.50 and black beer with montadito for 1.75. Chin Chin!

After eating, a little nap is mandatory. But first a little walk through the hippie market do not? Y in the afternoon another sea session, which never hurts, a shower and before sunset we will explore the historical Center: We start with the Church of Sant Bartomeu, which is located above Baluard and gives a beautiful view of the city.

Made the pictures of rigor we get lost in the alleyways that surround it: we pass through the corner of calm, through Plau del Rei Moro, Maricel, through the old wall and continue exploring the area, which always gives curious snapshots, until we reach the square of Baliuard Vidal and Quadras, where the little beach of San Sebastian is seen.

If the body asks you for shopping, do not forget to walk through the streets of Parrellades and along Major Street before ending up in the most famous and controversial street in Sitges: May I Street, better known as the street of sin. And not exactly gluttony.

You already know that Sitges is one of the funniest gay destinations in Europe, but there is fun for everyone: cocktail bar, nightclubs, pubs and much, much, so much atmosphere ... impossible to get bored. And at the end of the night we had a final cocktail before returning to the house to dream of the little angels (or little devils, it depends on what you're doing!)

By the way, if you prefer you can sign up for a guided tour of a place and get to know Sitges in company 🙂

Where to sleep in Sitges?

A few minutes walk from the historic center of Sitges and a few meters from one of the best beaches is the Sitges Beach Hostel where we have spent the night. There we met Mireia, the director of the hostel and a passionate about travel that has taken care of us!

The hostel is super new! They opened at the beginning of July, it is very nice and careful with many details: living room with TV and games library, free Wi-Fi, bicycle rental, restaurant and lunch service to take away, a nice terrace where you can relax and chat with other travelers , spacious and clean rooms with 4.6 and 8 beds, a simple but beautiful decoration and a very cozy atmosphere.

They also offer the possibility of hiring surf lessons, paddle or just rent the material to enjoy this sport that is becoming so fashionable. And as icing on the cake, breakfast is excellent: fresh juice, milk, tea, coffee, croissant, chocolate pastries, cereals, bread, cold cuts and cheeses to start the day in style! Definitely a perfect place to stay in Sitges.

  • ¿Where is? Carrer Anselm Clavé, 9.
  • ¿How much? It is the cheapest option to sleep in Sitges! The bunk bed costs € 33, includes buffet breakfast.

How to get to Sitges?

The best way is to go in train since, especially in summer, finding a parking lot is quite a complicated task. The Barcelona-Sitges i / v ticket costs less than € 8. The trip takes about 30 minutes from Sants Station and the train leaves directly in the center of Sitges… bon voyage!

We leave you a video we made in Sitges. Warning: I am not as cross-eyed as in the last instant. At that time the spirit of Leticia Sabater stole the plane, and the goal of the little camera also did its part haha!
