We have already told you what is our infallible 7-day route in New York, but it may also be the case that someone only has 3 days in the city. They are few? Yes. We will not deny it. But after kicking New York for 72 hours with our brother-in-law (first time in New York for him), we can say loud and clear that yes, you can see many things in New York in such a short time. But you will have to meet these requirements: make you want, get up early and wear good XD shoes. Next we will share our 3-day route in New York (day-to-day itinerary).

Remember that if you want to enter the main attractions of New York, such as viewpoints, museums, etc., you should take a tourist pass. Here you can see what there is and reserve them.

A trip to New York would not be the same without strolling through the chaotic streets full of skyscrapers in Midtown Manhattan. Here you have many places to visit, but considering the short time, we would make a route from Times Square to pass by Bryant park, the New York Public Library, the Grand Central Terminal, the St. Patrick's Cathedral and the Rockefeller center. Take advantage now to climb to Top of the Rock and contemplate the city from the top of the best viewpoint in New York. You can buy the ticket without a queue here (remember that it is open date and time, so you will have to arrive at the ticket office with the reservation and hope to be lucky to climb fast). These are the tips to get on the Top of the Rock (coming soon). We tell you more about what to do in Midtown Manhattan.

In the afternoon our advice is that you rent a bicycle and travel quietly Central park. You can stop by the Whole Foods from Columbus Circle and buy takeaway food and improvise a picnic in the park (beware that the food / buffet costs $ 9 per pound: do not fill the box with a bag or it will come out for a peak lol). Here you have more tips to visit Central Park.

To put a finishing touch on the first day there is nothing better than seeing a Broadway musical. They are expensive yes, but after spending 3 hours with spiky hair in the Lion King, we recommend paying for this unique experience. Check out Broadway musicals and book your armchair here. And if you want to go, why not have a drink in some New York rooftop bar, As the Cloud Social Rooftop Bar? Although there are several alternatives: these are the best rooftop bars in New York (and at good prices).

Where to eat? Wholefoods, Halal Guys cart, hot dog carts or dinner at Ellen's Stardust Diner.

And we continue with our route of 3 days in New York! The second day is perhaps the most chunguillo of all, since the idea is to visit practically half Manhattan. Specifically the neighborhoods of Hudson Yards, Meatpacking District, West Village, Soho, Nolita, Little Italy and Chinatown. But hey, we did it and we are still alive to tell it.

Start your day with coffee and bagel breakfast (bought in street carts) in front of the Flatiron Building: there is a public square with tables and chairs the beautiful sea. If you get too distracted, or you already have breakfast in your accommodation, go directly by subway to Hudson Yards, a very new and constantly evolving neighborhood, where you can visit the curious The Vessel, for this you will have to book the free ticket online, we tell you more here. The next step will be to tour the High line, one of the most curious parks in the city, which has the peculiarity of being an old elevated train track. The views from the top across the streets of Manhattan are amazing. More information about these neighborhoods.

When you reach the end of the High Line, you will find yourself in full Meatpacking District, a small neighborhood of brick and metal buildings that were formerly slaughterhouses meat stores! One of our favorites from all over New York, and increasingly visited. To the north extends another of the trendy neighborhoods: Chelsea, with its iconic Chelsea Market. If you feel like taking a snack (accompanied by hundreds of other tourists), visit it and freak out with its architecture: it was the factory where the Oreo were invented. In this area there are also two of the best murals in Kobra: that of Mother Teresa and Gandhy, and that of Mount Rushmore. They can be viewed from the High Line itself.

From there go down in the direction of West village, an area full of super nice stone houses (brownstones), where the best plan is to get lost among its little streets. Just try to go through the Friends house, on the streets Washington Mews and for the lively Macdougal Street, with lots of options to eat and drink, and relax in Washington Square Here we tell you everything to see and do in West Village and Greenwich Village.

The next stop will be the neighborhoods of Soho, Nolita, Little italy Y Chinatown. Said like that, it seems very tired, especially coming from traveling through Manhattan, but it really is not so much distance, they are very small districts side by side. It's amazing how the environment changes when you cross from one to another: the people, the shops, the scents ... everything is radically transformed as if you had traveled from one side of the world to the other! Thus one gets tired of walking much less. In this post you can see everything to do in Little Italy and Chinatown.

Finish the day drinking a beer in the Rooftop 93, the rooftop bar of the Wyndham Garden Chinatown hotel: the views from here are magnificent. From 5 to 8 pm there is happy hour and the beer costs $ 7 (try the Brooklyn Brewery). It is the rooftop that we all enjoy the most.

Where to eat? Kesté, Five Guys, Wah Fung Fast Food, Vanesa Dumplings ...

Tired? Go! You'll sleep when you come home hehe. Today it's time to get up early and travel by subway to DUMBO, the neighborhood of Brooklyn where the famous Brooklyn Bridge begins. Here you have to go through the street Washington Street from where you have a wonderful view of the Manhattan Bridge (you will have to share the snapshot with a few more instagramers), approach the shore of the East River in the Main Street Park and… well, we better tell you here 10 things to see and do in DUMBO.

If you have not followed our advice and you have not risen very early, you can eat something in DUMBO, that before crossing on foot Brooklyn bridge and start exploring Lower manhattan. First, go around Wall street, the financial district with its corporate buildings and emblematic statues such as the Wall Street Bull or the Challenging Girl. Tour the historic Stone street, full of pubs and terraces, and if you have time visit theNational Museum of the American Indians (It's free!).

From there go to Battery Park and take the ferry to the Statue of Liberty and the interesting Ellis Island (You can buy tickets online or do it directly at the ticket office. You can also sign up for this tour in Spanish). Or if you want to save a little money and settle for seeing the most famous lady in America from afar, you have the option of getting on the free ferry that is going to Staten island. The views of Lower Manhattan from the water are those that are not forgotten.

When you are back, if you have time and desire, you can visit the area of World trade center, where the Twin Towers were and today offers several interesting places, such as 11S Memorial and Museum, the One World Observatory (the tallest building in the United States, which by the way you can climb) or the subway station Oculus from Calatrava, among others. Here we tell you everything to do in Lower Manhattan.

If you prefer to go up to a shorter but much more mythical building, head to Midtown Manhattan and ascend to the viewpoint terrace of the Empire State Building, or go have a drink at rooftop bar 230 Fifth, one of the most spectacular in New York. For dinner nothing better than catch something to take and eat it in Bryant park, surrounded by skyscrapers, noise and lights of the most amazing city in the world. It is the best farewell for a 3-day express visit in New York.

Variation: if one of the days of your trip catches on Sunday, a good plan is to approach the Harlem neighborhood and spend the morning there, attending a gospel mass before and enjoying after a brunch based on waffel and fried chicken. Calculate half a day time. Here you have the best of Harlem.

Where to eat? In DUMBO: Grimaldi's, Juliana's, Luke's Lobster and Shake Shack.

We hope our 3-day route in New York you liked it! If you have doubts, look at this post of tips for traveling to New York and not screw it up or leave us a comment with your query.
