There are basically three ways to get to Moscow from Vnukovo airport:

Although there are actually several buses, the most recommended on several websites are these:

Bus 611, which takes you to the subway station of “Yugo-Zapadnaya”.
Bus 911, which takes you to the metro station of "Salar'evo".

Actually both arrive at metro stations on the same line, the line 1 (red), which passes through the center of Moscow.

Where do you take the bus at Vnukovo airport? When you go to the main hall, you will have to leave the terminal to the street, cross the road and reach an island in the middle. There you will see a fairly large entrance, similar to the subway mouths of any city. Enter and go down the stairs. You must continue straight following the indication of “Exit to the municipal bus stop“.

The price of the bus is 55 rubles (€ 0.75), which can be paid to the driver himself. The ideal in this case is to get money with the Bnext card at one of the airport tellers, buy a SIM (here we explain how to do it) and pay it in cash, and ask for a fair exchange for the bus. The driver will give you an individual cardboard ticket that is only valid for that bus journey (for the subway you will have to buy another ticket). We tried to use it to catch the subway at the Yugo-Zapadnaya station and it didn't work, so there we bought a 3-day pass (we tell you more information about public transport in Moscow).

When you arrive at the subway station (“Yugo-Zapadnaya” or “Salar'evo”), buy your individual ticket or the day pass and get on the only line that passes there (the line 1). This metro makes stops in the center of Moscow: Kropotkinskaya, Biblioteka imeni Lenina, Lubyanka or Chistye Prudy.

We take 35 minutes on the bus route (plus wait, which was little) plus about 25 minutes by subway between Yugo-Zapadnaya and Chistye Prudy.

It is possibly the fastest and easiest way to get there by public transport from Vnukovo airport to Moscow, although in the city there is only one stop: the Kievsky Station, to the southwest. To go to the center of Moscow, at this station you can take one of the subway lines that passes through there (Kievskaya Station): line 3, line 4 and line 5.

The price of the train is 450 rubles (just over € 6) If you buy the ticket 4 or more days in advance online. The price if you buy there the ticket is 500 rubles. There are also special rates, for example the DUO rate that is for two and costs 850 rubles (both online and at the time), or the round trip also for 850 rubles. There is also an interesting service of TRAIN + TAXI with which you have the train ticket to Kievsky station and there you will have an assigned taxi that takes you to your accommodation. It is possible to book a taxi upon arrival. There are official counters with the indication “TAXI” where to make the reservation, in this case the price is around 1,500 -2,000 rubles (€ 20-27). Try to escape the taxi drivers who assail you on arrival because they are not official and you may end up having problems. If you use any transport application, such as Yandex Taxi, the price is usually a little cheaper (but you need internet to request it).
