You will also wonder what is the best thing to see in Slovenia do not? We only give you 4 names: Vintgar gorge, Lake Bled, Postojna cave and Predjama castle. Are you believing it a little more?

Actually it does not have much mystery, the trick is to join an agency that includes the most important points in a single day. Slovenia is a tiny country, it is said that everything is a maximum of an hour and a half away by car, now if you just believe it, huh? We already told you ... there are no mysteries.

We did it thanks to the agency Roundabout, number 1 in things to do in Slovenia on the Tripadvisor website, and very happy that we stayed! Obviously it can be done for free although in this case you will need some more time since the connections with all these points are not always good. Come on, let's go for the details:

What do you visit

There are 4 points we visited (in our case they adapted to the group and we skipped Bled Castle). It was these:

Vintgar gorge
Lake bled
Postojna Cave
Predjama castle

|Vintgar gorge

We started the day in this imposing gorge that reminded us of Karangahake's in New Zealand. The route is 1.5 km long and passes through several bridges over the Radovna river, some rapids, pools of crystalline waters (if not for the temperature of the water, it makes you want to take a dip) and a beautiful waterfall at its end .

|Lake bled

In the vicinity of the so-called "Julian Alps" (to establish a settlement with the name of the great emperor Julius Caesar), is one of the icons of Slovenia. Lake Bled, with its central islet leaves everyone who approaches him speechless. This is undoubtedly the most typical postcard of Slovenia ... it left us speechless!

|Postojna Cave

Simply the most visited cave in the world ... and we understand well why! It has a length of 21km, although they are investigating their conduits and possibly ascend to more than 30 km! Those who visit are a part of them, in three sections: the first by electric train, the second by foot and the third by train again. They pass through large and narrow passages between strange formations in karst rocks, natural halls and ... the only underground post office in the world, all at about 10 degrees so don't forget a jacket 😉

|Predjama Castle

When you leave this castle you are left with the feeling that it is not a castle anymore. The Argentines who came with us said they were tired of visiting castles in Europe. With this he changed the idea! Around the "cave castle" there are beautiful legends that we will tell in another article. For us, Predjama Castle was the big surprise of this trip.

You can bring something to eat like pizzas, snacks, fruit, etc. and while the rest of the group visits the islet of Lake Bled you improvise a picnic around the lake.
Take some warm clothes to visit the Postojna cave, as we told you the temperature inside is about 10 degrees!
When you are in the town of Bled (the new one) take the opportunity to try the original Bled Cake (or cream cake), it is delicious!
