Today's journey is the shortest but perhaps the most beautiful we have done so far. Not surprisingly this route is called the Panoramic Route of the Beach. Well, we didn't see much beach, but we went through beautiful places in these two hours that it took us to reach Mamallapuram.

Although if you have to define this path would be "short but intense". We contemplate very beautiful places, such as marshes used to obtain salt in huge salt flats (Gandhi would be proud), or a fishing village where we arrived after following the indications of a resort with Greek-style houses. The resort has only looks good, because it is under construction and at the moment there is only one mill at the entrance and many indications on the road.

However, we witnessed a spooky image, which we will count only for the record of it. We were passing one of the tolls through the motorcycle area, to the left at all, where we passed without paying, and we saw a group of men around a motorcycle all nervous. When we approached we saw a woman in the back of the fainted motorcycle ... and worse, several men trying to get their leg between the spokes of the rear wheel with pulls. We left there with a white face and we didn't talk about the rest of the way. If that was the sad news of the trip, the other side was the arrival in Mamallapuram. From the motorcycle we saw several workshops of religious sculpture and we passed through gardens with impossible rocks, Hampi style. That really moved us!

Here we have spent two days very comfortable. Mamallapuram is one of those places where tourists are well, with our accommodation area, where they all have us without bothering too much, with western food in all the menus of the restaurants and with beautiful places to visit.

The first day we dedicate to walk among the rocks of incredible positions and ancient temples in the mountain of the town. It is a super nice and very photogenic ride! Of course, for those who do not suffer from goathobia, here they are everywhere! There is also a lighthouse to climb to contemplate beautiful panoramic views.

The next day we went to the so-called "5 Rathas", some rocks carved a kilometer from the town, considered the creme de la creme of this style. We stay outside the premises ... well, why pay if viewed from outside?

We spent the rest of the day wandering around the city and walking along the banks of the temple on the shore (worth the redundancy!)… Without a doubt Mammallapuram was the big surprise of the mototrip!

USEFUL INFO

Where to sleep:In Mamallapuram there is a street where most of the accommodations are located. There are all styles and prices. We stay in Vinodhara. G.H for 500 INR per night, with bathroom, TV and Wifi, although quite spartan.

Visits:The mountain is free and the visit lasts an hour or an hour and a half. The best time is, as usual, the sunset. Climbing the lighthouse costs INR 25 plus 20 of the camera, be careful if you tell him that you will not take pictures to not pay it, like us, the guy will be spying on you from below with the cameras! Hehe, but it's nice. To visit the 5 Rathas you have to pay 250 INR, or see them from outside. We did not pay and we walked around the road next door, from where you can see quite well. You can also shoot some photo from the entrance, the guard will not put problems. They are all together and if it hurts to pay an exaggerated ticket, then you know ...
