There are countless beautiful villages that you have to see in Catalonia, some of them are even considered the most beautiful villages in Spain. Many of them are old medieval villages, with their typical stone houses and streets, and other old fishing villages that are located in some of the best corners of the Costa Brava. We have made a list of what we consider are the 10 villages you have to see in Catalonia. Although we cannot forget that there are many more towns in Catalonia that deserve a visit such as: Miravet, Santa Pau, Vielha, Artiés, Tossa de Mar, Mura, Llivia, Beget, Begur, Castellfollit de la Roca, Barruera….

1. Cadaqués

Cadaqués, one of the most beautiful villages we have visited. Old fishing village that retains all its charm, highlighting its white houses, narrow streets and fishing boats on the sand of its coves. Salvador Dalí refuge together with the neighboring town of Port Lligat, Cadaqués is a safe bet and more if we tell you that it is surrounded by the beautiful landscape of the Natural Park of Cap de Creus, a true spectacle for the senses.

2. Guimerà

Guimerá is without any doubt one of the villages you have to see in Catalonia, especially for its medieval past that you can live through its streets and stone houses. Full of corners to sit and move a few centuries ago, Guimerà is located in the Corb Valley, in the province of Lleida. A good route through the town of Guimerà would start by walking along the river, from where we will enjoy incredible views of Guimerà, which is located on the side of a hill, to the part of the castle and the church.

3. Peratallada

Peratallada is another of the frozen villages in the Middle Ages of Catalonia, being declared a Historic-Artistic Site in 1975. One of the things that most attract our attention, apart from the beauty of pampering, is that the town is very well cared for and preserved, full of charming corners and with all kinds of details. This walled town surrounded by a moat is for us one of the villages you have to see in Catalonia.

4. Rupit i Pruït

Rupit i Pruït, for us the most beautiful town in the province of Barcelona, ​​famous for its suspension bridge and Salt de Sallent, one of the most spectacular waterfalls in Catalonia. Located between the mountains of Collsacabra and the Guilleries, walking through the town with its stone houses is a marvel.

5. Calella de Palafrugell

Calella de Palafrugell, a town that, like Cadaqués, preserves the charm of old fishing village with its boats and white houses. With some of the best coves on the Costa Brava nearby and a perfect Camino de Ronda to walk to Llamfranc, they make it one of the most tourist destinations in this area and one of the most beautiful villages in Girona.

6. Taüll, one of the villages you have to see in Catalonia

Taüll is a very small town, located in the Pyrenees of Lleida, located in the privileged environment in the Vall de Boí and within the Route of the Romanesque Churches of this valley, highlighting its two churches: Sant Climent de Taüll and Santa Maria from Taüll. It is the perfect town to spend a few days in a rural house and visit the National Park of Aigüestortes and Lake Sant Maurici.

In this town we may not be completely objective since it is the town where I was born (Roger), I spent much of my life and where now, we come back every time we can spend a few days. Removing the emotional part, the town of Passanant and the surrounding environment, with its small aggregate towns such as La Glorieta, La Pobla de Ferran and La Sala de Comalats, form a set in which it is worth missing a few days to walk, Relax and enjoy nature.
